About ACE's Woodworks
“My name is Pat Ventura, and I’ve been crafting with wood for over 50 years. My passion for woodworking began with my grandfather and father—both skilled craftsmen and carpenters—who instilled in me a deep appreciation for the art of building. The knowledge and skills they shared have been invaluable throughout my life”
My journey with woodworking started in junior high, driven by curiosity and a desire for accomplishment. As a young boy in special education due to reading and writing challenges, I often felt inferior to my peers. Turning to sports and woodworking became my refuge. It was in my 7th-grade woodshop class that everything changed. I excelled in woodworking, thanks to the inspiration and practical knowledge I gained from my grandfather, a WWII veteran, and my father, a Korean War combat vet. For the first time, I felt like I belonged, becoming the go-to person in class and building the confidence that shaped my life.
As I pursued my dream of playing college football, I always kept a backup plan: woodworking and construction. Throughout my 38-year career as a coach and teacher, I continued crafting projects—mainly as gifts for friends and family. After retiring in May 2024, I finally decided to turn my lifelong passion into a business, creating ACE’S Woodworks to serve others and share my God-given talents.
The name “ACE’S Woodworks” has a special story behind it. One day, my good friend Gary, a welder, left me a surprise: a custom metal sign reading “Ace’s Place” with elk antlers on each side. Gary often calls me “Ace,” so I added “Woodworks” to reflect my craft. With the support of friends and family, my business dream became a reality.
In my gallery, you’ll find handcrafted items I’ve created over the years, including urn boxes, jewelry boxes, toys, toy chests, cutting boards, charcuterie boards, and more. Many of these were custom-made by request or given as gifts. Each piece is unique, often featuring exotic woods or locally sourced materials like black walnut, oak, juniper, red cedar, mesquite, pecan, and fruitwoods. I personally harvest, mill, and craft these materials, striving to create one-of-a-kind designs that reflect the natural beauty of the wood.
Time frames for projects vary depending on the item, wood type, and my workload. Urns typically take two weeks, while inlaid boxes and chests require at least three weeks. Smaller items like cutting boards and coasters usually take about 10 days. Prices are based on the type of wood and the time involved, with shipping and handling costs determined by item and delivery method.
I take immense pride in being a composer of wood, crafting each piece with care and love. Whenever possible, I source my materials from the U.S. as a tribute to the veterans in my family who served our country. Thank you for visiting ACE’S Woodworks—I look forward to creating something special for you!
